Mettler-Toledo Safeline has launched the Touch LS interface upgrade for Signature metal detection systems used by existing food manufacturing customers.

The new Touch LS interface has a number of new, innovative features such as 32 different account and multi-language capabilities to enhance usability, product quality and help further the due diligence process on production lines.

With the upgraded Signature metal detector, food manufacturers can boost productivity, competitiveness and also reduce production costs while meeting local and global food safety standards, including British Retail Consortium (BRC), International Food Standard (IFS) and Food Safety Systems Certification (FSSC) 22000.

The upgrade takes less than two hours to install, minimizing downtime with no need to remove the machine from the production line.

The Touch LS features a new full-colour touch-screen display and 25 language options increasing usability for operators with simple navigation of the metal detector’s functions in a language of the operator’s choice, minimizing the risk of error.

The upgrade also has automatic setup options to simplify product setup during installation as well as automatic clustering to facilitate inspection of different products when in production.

Flexibility and efficiency are enhanced as food manufacturers can swiftly change products with minimal downtime. The increased usability means that less training is necessary, reducing manufacturing costs.

The Touch LS features an automatic reject timer setup, with reject confirmation and reject check sensor options ensuring that all identified contaminated products are safely removed from the production process.

Its new Condition Monitoring system continually checks the upgraded Signature metal detector’s operational processes, alerting users to maintain optimum performance.

The Touch LS’s password protection and, detection and access logs further boost product inspection security and due diligence for the manufacturer.

“In a competitive market, manufacturers require extended performance of their existing technology to help increase market share”, said Jonathan Richards, Marketing Manager, Mettler-Toledo Safeline.

Richards continued, “The Touch LS interface can meet this need. With minimal on-site installation time existing owners of Signature metal detectors can benefit from minimized downtime and increased usability, maximizing the efficiency of their production lines”.
