Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. has announced that two of its analytical instrument systems have won first place awards in the 2012 Environmental Protection New Product of the Year competition hosted by the Environmental Protection website www.eponline.com.

The Thermo Scientific Dionex ICS-4000 capillary HPIC (high pressure ion chromatography) reagent-free system won the “New Technology - Consumer” award.

The Thermo Scientific TRACE 1300 Series gas chromatography system won the award in the “New Technology - Industrial” category.

Submissions were judged by a panel of environmental industry veterans, including Paul S. Farber, PE DEE, of Sargent & Lundy, LLC and Angela Neville, JD, former longtime editor of Environmental Protection Magazine.

“The judges graded each entry on environmental impact, industry impact, innovation, design, and marketing potential,” said Jerry Laws, editorial director, Environmental Protection. “We heartily congratulate all of the companies that entered the contest, and made it so competitive.”

Environmental testing laboratories use the Thermo Scientific Dionex ICS-4000 capillary HPIC reagent-free system to analyze cations and anions in groundwater, surface water, and wastewater from various sources.

The device offers best-in-class sensitivity in environmental testing applications.
