Over recent years, the number of newly approved drugs brought to market has continued to decrease. Many drugs fail due to the fact they do not show efficacy at specific stages of the drug development pipeline, typically Phase II or Phase III.
Subsequently, the pharmaceutical industry is facing pressures to optimize the drug discovery phase of the drug development pipeline, to avoid late-stage failures, and streamline the process.
One approach to doing this is by adopting automation.
