LabVantage Solutions, Inc. has announced that a major academic medical center has chosen LabVantage's Sapphire Laboratory Information Management Suite (LIMS) to serve as the core infrastructure for its research and clinical laboratories.

The initial project relates to the medical center’s cardiovascular laboratories that provide blood tests for research and clinical trials, and develop new markers of cardiac risk and disease.

In particular, they offer input on study protocols, prepare collection kits, coordinate sample collection, arrange logistics, manage specimen storage and data, and provide specimen analysis.

"The purpose of the Sapphire project is to remove the data silos and management of Excel spreadsheets by initially integrating their legacy specimen management system with Sapphire and providing interfaces to disparate clinical solutions, so that queries across the enterprise can be made with meaningful results," states Ronald Kasner, Vice President of Corporate Development at LabVantage.

"The continued demand for testing and increased expectations on turn around time required a LIMS to help manage their laboratory operations, ensuring the lab could maintain the highest levels of quality, without adding additional human resources," he added.

"Biomarker development and existing use of predictive biomarkers is critical to the early detection and prevention of heart disease," comments Jim Aurelio, President & CEO of LabVantage.

"We are proud to work with this prestigious academic medical center to assist its renown research and clinical efforts that bring such positive impact to the world," said Aurelio.
