How To Switch to Optimal Activity-Based Cytokine Dosing
Many cell culture protocols use weight as a measure for cytokine dosing. However, the biological activity of recombinant cytokines is variable depending on the production process and thus varies between suppliers and production lots. This means that cytokine weight does not equal cytokine activity. Dosing recombinant cytokines based on protein weight might therefore result in adding different amounts of active cytokine and cause variable cell culture conditions.
