Stem Cell Technologies (STI) has announce that STI Contract Assay Services will be providing a free, educational webinar on Human Bone Marrow Toxicity testing.

"Toxicity Testing: What Bone Marrow Can Tell Us", will be presented by Dr. Emer Clarke on July 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM PST (2:00 PM EST). Register online.

Drug Screening with Primary Cells:

Cultured primary cells possess characteristics that often represent in vivo physiology better than immortalized cell lines.

Thus, primary cell-based assays could give a more accurate prediction of the activity of compounds in in vivo models and in the clinic, and thus could contribute to a decrease in attrition in the whole process of drug discovery.

Bone marrow progenitor assays are more informative than cell proliferation methods. One of these assays, the CFC (colony forming cell) assay, is an effective method for developing dosing strategies for Phase I clinical trials.
