Brooks Life Science Systems has introduced the CSP8 heat sealer for 96-well REMP tubes. The easy-to-use instrument permits the sealing of eight REMP tubes at a time, avoiding the need to seal an entire 96- tube rack.

The CSP8 uses Brooks’ industry-proven technology to produce tightly welded, pierceable seals. The REMP tubes’ small volumes allow for multiple aliquots of individual samples - avoiding freeze-thaw cycles.

“The CSP8’s ability to economically seal small numbers of tubes, plus its capability to process individual aliquots, eliminates the multiple freeze-thaw cycles that lead to sample degradation,” said Christopher McNary, vice president and chief commercial officer, Brooks Life Science Systems. “Our instrument permits fast vein-to-freezer times in applications with distributed biosample collection and subsequent storage in central biobanks.”

The CSP8’s ability to seal a row of eight tubes also eliminates the cost and waste of sealing all of the tubes in a partially filled plate. In addition, the compact size of the instrument’s polyurethane seals maximizes storage density. The CSP8 heat sealer processes 0.3 ml and 0.9 ml, 96-well REMP tubes.
