Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the CTS StemPro HSC Expansion Medium, providing researchers with more functional cells for cell therapy applications. It was also designed to help meet regulatory compliance requirements for ancillary materials.

This solution will expand primitive hematopoietic stem cells that are critical for stem cell function and long-term engraftment. The CTS StemPro HSC Expansion Medium is a xeno-free, serum-free medium that is manufactured in accordance with cGMP for medical devices (ISO13485 guidelines). The phenotypes of the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) targeted for expansion are the total CD34+ cell population with an emphasis on enrichment of the CD34+CD90+CD45RA- cell subset.

The key features of the CTS StemPro HSC Expansion Medium are as follows:

  • Designed to help meet regulatory requirements and manufactured in accordance with cGMP for medical devices.
  • Supported by a drug master file (DMF) and regulatory support file (RSF) to assist in global regulatory filings and approvals.
  • Maintains stem cell functionality and facilitates engraftment of expanded CD34+ cells in animal transplant models.
  • Supports superior expansion of critical phenotypes with typically 100X expansion of total CD34+ cell population and enrichment of the CD34+CD90+CD45RA– subset.
