A new manual cryostat offers scientists improved functionality and ergonomics, ensuring efficient high quality frozen sectioning.

Sectioning temperature is critical in generating a good quality fresh frozen tissue section. The Thermo Scientific Cryostar NX50 is an innovative cryostat incorporating knife cooling and adjustable specimen head temperature for rapid adjustment to meet the temperature requirements for each specimen.

“Pathologists rely on quick turnaround time and excellent sectioning quality from their cryostat,” said Richard Vernon, Commercial Product Manager, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “Our Cryostar NX50 gives them the functionality and control to achieve diagnosis rapidly.”

Designed with an LCD touch screen interface operation is streamlined for the user. By utilizing icon driven software parameters can be changed simply and quickly to meet the demands of different specimen types.

In addition, the Cryostar NX50 offers:

• Optional motorized height adjustment, allowing the operator to customize the position of the cryochamber for either seated or standing operation.
• Optional Cold D disinfection system for rapid, on demand decontamination of the cryochamber, protecting the operator from exposure to biological pathogens with minimal downtime.
• Optional, variable-pressure vacutome, which delivers wrinkle-free sections by gently stretching the specimen during cutting.
