Amersham™ Typhoon™ biomolecular imagers are high-performance laser scanning systems designed for sensitive, quantitative analysis of proteins and nucleic acids across a wide range of applications.
As an all-in-one imaging platform, Typhoon supports fluorescence (RGB and near-infrared), phosphor imaging for radiolabeled samples, and colorimetric detection eliminating the need for multiple systems while expanding your lab’s capabilities.

- High sensitivity and quantitative accuracy: Engineered for precision, Typhoon systems detect proteins down to ~3 pg and deliver a dynamic range spanning over five orders of magnitude, enabling accurate quantitation of both low- and high-abundance targets in a single experiment. 
- High-resolution laser scanning (up to 10 μm) ensures clear, publication-quality images for confident data interpretation.
- High throughput, improved efficiency: With a large scanning area (up to 40 × 46 cm), Typhoon enables simultaneous imaging of up to 20 gels or blots or 9 multi-well plates, improving throughput while allowing consistent, side-by-side comparisons.
- Versatility across workflows: The system supports a broad range of applications, including Western, Northern, and Southern blotting, 2D DIGE, gel documentation, microarrays, and tissue imaging. Its ability to image fluorescent-, radiolabeled, and colorimetric samples makes it a central solution for diverse molecular biology workflows.
- Proven performance for advanced detection such as phosphor imaging, Typhoon provides highly sensitive detection of radiolabeled DNA and RNA ideal for genomics workflows, cleavage assays, and regulated applications such as quantitative whole-body autoradiography (QWBA).
