The Femto Pulse definitely filled an existing gap in quality control (QC) for RNA and DNA. Especially from chromatin immune precipitated (ChIP) samples it was very difficult to draw some conclusions in QC with previous QC methods because of the very low amounts (low picogram range) usually provided by the user/customers. The pulse field function of the Femto Pulse makes it a very useful tool to judge on the quality of input samples and libraries for Nanopore and PacBio sequencing.

It’s become a critical tool for preparing samples for the long read platforms, both PacBio and Oxford Nanopore, ensuring high quality/high yield on those instruments. Also, with the boundaries of technology being pushed to lower-and-lower sample input, especially for RNA/single cell technologies, the extremely high sensitivity of the Femto Pulse allows us to assess the quality of samples at concentrations that hasn’t been possible before.
