Insight Genetics Inc announced today that it has added six employees to its team, growing its expertise in scientific research and development and quality assurance.

•         Rebecca Smith, PhD, has joined as Scientist II
•         Lance Thomas, PhD, has joined as Scientist II
•         Frank McMahon has joined as Research Associate II
•         Sajid Qadri has joined as Research Associate I
•         Ryan Vincent has joined as Research Associate I, and
•         Andrew Dahlhauser has joined as Quality Assurance Associate

“We are excited to have Frank, Andrew, Ryan, Lance, Sajid and Rebecca join our team,” said Christopher Callaghan, President and COO of Insight Genetics. “Each of these professionals brings unique knowledge and a diverse set of skills to our scientific and business operations. We look forward to their contributions to our company’s growth and mission of enabling precision medicine in cancer care.”

As a Scientist II, Rebecca Smith, PhD, will use her experience in molecular genetics to support the Insight Genetics Research & Development team in late phase projects for transition to clinical use. Prior to Insight Genetics, Smith was a developmental neurobiology postdoctoral fellow at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. There she identified a potential neurodegenerative disease mechanism caused by mutations in a RNA binding protein. Smith received her PhD in genetics at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Lance Thomas, PhD, also a Scientist II, will lead the design and execution of early phase projects as well as support the Next Generation Sequencing division at Insight Genetics. Prior to joining the team, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he developed an innovative strategy to identify therapeutic targets in cancer cells. Thomas received his PhD in cancer biology from Wake Forest University.

As a Research Associate II, Frank McMahon, will oversee the expansion of Insight Genetics’ histopathology division and support biomarker development projects. Previously, McMahon gained significant research experience in molecular pathology at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Allergy Pulmonary and Critical Care and Translational Pathology departments. McMahon earned his B.S. in biological science with a concentration in microbiology from the University of Tennessee Knoxville.

In his new role as Research Associate I, Ryan Vincent, will use his skills in genetics and biotechnology to design and advance projects within Insight Genetics’ Research & Development team, including the company’s multiple National Cancer Institute contracts. Vincent earned his B.S. in biology with a minor in chemistry from the Honors College at Western Kentucky University.

Also a Research Associate I, Sajid Qadri, will leverage his molecular biology knowledge to advance Next Generation Sequencing projects. Previously, Qadri was an Insight Genetics research intern. Qadri earned his B.S. in biological engineering from Louisiana State University.

Andrew Dahlhauser, Quality Assurance Associate, is responsible for the effective implementation of Insight Genetics’ Quality Management System processes within Insight Genetics and with the company’s external clients. Dahlhauser will perform Quality System implementations, process improvement programs, audits, process validation and corrective action and preventive action plans. Dahlhauser received his associate science degree in business and commerce with an emphasis in accounting from Volunteer State Community College.
