Olympus America Inc. and Andor Technology USA, South Windsor, CT have joined forces to offer Andor cameras, along with Andor spinning-disk laser confocal microscope systems built around Olympus microscopes, to researchers throughout the Americas.

Olympus now will be offering scientists one of the highest-performance, fastest spinning-disk laser confocal solutions available.

The combination of Andor iXon EMCCD cameras, Revolution confocal systems and other hardware, along with Olympus hardware, provides researchers with some of the most robust and powerful imaging systems available.

Among the confocal systems offered will be an ultra-high-speed laser-scanning spinning-disk confocal system (Class IIIb laser), integrated with the user’s choice of Olympus microscopes such as the upright BX51WI® and BX61WI physiology workstations, the BX63 upright research microscope or the inverted IX71/81® research microscopes.

The systems will be sold and supported through the Olympus network of dealers and direct sales representatives, along with its dedicated local imaging and applications specialists.

“This relationship combines Andor’s world-leading camera and system technology together with Olympus microscope and imaging products and world-class support. The collaboration will offer customers best-in-class microscopy solutions that were previously complex to source,” said Conor Walsh, CEO of Andor Technology.

Walsh continued, “The combined strengths of our two companies give us enormous potential to help users achieve their research goals.”

“We are delighted to move forward with Andor in this exciting and promising relationship,” said Dr. Michael Lewis, Director of Product Marketing for Olympus America Inc., Scientific Equipment Group.

Dr. Lewis continued, “Andor’s camera and confocal systems, used in conjunction with Metamorph® software and Olympus’s superior hardware and optical technology, will allow more researchers to capture the highest quality live-cell imaging data at unprecedented speeds. We hope to help researchers push the envelope of science with some of the best technology available.”
