Proxima Patient Dedicated Blood Gas Analyser Highlighted At Nvic Najaarscongres

Sphere Medical, innovator in critical care monitoring and diagnostics equipment, will be exhibiting for the first time in The Netherlands its new patient dedicated arterial blood gas system. Attendees of the NVIC (Dutch Intensive Care Society) Najaarscongres 2015, in Utrecht from 17-18th September will be able to find out how the new Proxima System supports rapid and frequent measurements without leaving the patient’s bedside.

Sphere Medical’s Stand #8 at the NVIC conference, will host demonstrations of Proxima with Petra Maissan, Benelux Sales Manager for Sphere Medical. Qualified as a Nurse Anaesthetist, Petra is well known in the critical care sector in The Netherlands following many years’ experience, initially working as a Certified Registered Nurse Anaesthetist. Following this she became a clinical specialist in a variety of intensive care medical devices, including TEG Haemostasis Analysers.

Commenting on her new role at Sphere Medical, Petra Maissan said, “From my experience as a nurse anaesthetist I can truly see the potential of Proxima to make a real difference in the care of critically ill patients, enabling effective and timely clinical decisions to be made. The Proxima system is directly connected to a patient’s arterial line, meaning that it is a closed system during blood sampling. For blood gas and electrolyte analysis, blood is drawn directly into the Proxima sensor, analysed and returned to the patient resulting in zero net loss of blood. Results are displayed rapidly on the patient’s bedside monitor. Since it is a closed system and all blood is returned to the patient, Proxima fully supports blood conservation strategies.
