Siemens Healthcare has introduced the ADVIA Chemistry XPT System and ADVIA Centaur XPT Immunoassay System at the 2014 AACC Annual Meeting and Clinical Lab Expo, Chicago, July 27-31.

The newest in the company’s portfolio of chemistry and immunoassay instruments for the central laboratory, these systems are designed to enable continuous and simple operation, facilitate delivery of high quality, rapid results, and work seamlessly with automation in high-volume laboratories.

“Faced with ever-increasing workload demands, our customers need easy-to-use solutions that enhance workflow and quickly provide the results,” said Franz Walt, CEO, Chemistry, Immunoassay, Automation and Diagnostics IT Business Unit, Diagnostics Division, Siemens Healthcare. “The ADVIA Chemistry XPT System and ADVIA Centaur XPT Immunoassay System are new central laboratory analyzers designed to meet these requirements.”

Each system features versatile technology that will enable a broad range of testing to assist clinicians in disease screening, diagnosing and monitoring. Additionally, easy operation will be supported with harmonized, intuitive software, large touchscreens and Siemens Remote Service diagnostics.

A fast system for the high-volume laboratory with a throughput of up to 2400 tests per hour, the ADVIA Chemistry XPT System achieves predictable turnaround times through a combination of micro-volume technology and aliquot retention.

Sample aliquots are readily available onboard for testing and retesting; there is no need to return the tube to the system. The system also includes VeriSmart Technology, a combination of hardware and software checks to help ensure high-quality results.

The ADVIA Centaur XPT Immunoassay System is designed to process up to 240 tests per hour, upload test definitions on demand, and provide uninterrupted processing even when loading and unloading samples, reagents and supplies. The system is intended to require very little maintenance. Its user interface features powerful, easy-to-use software with extensive data management capabilities, and intelligent software algorithms are designed to support laboratory management of results by automatically providing effective diagnostic testing strategies.

Both systems are automation-ready, and can be connected to Siemens’ Aptio Automation, the company’s latest track-based automation system. They require no additional robotics, and utilize point-in-space technology which allows for sampling directly from the automation track.

Also, the ADVIA Chemistry XPT System and ADVIA Centaur XPT Immunoassay System can be connected to the company’s CentraLink Data Management System, which streamlines workflow across automation, IT and instruments, and Siemens Remote Service (SRS).
