Microbiomes – Webinars and Online Events

For researchers in the field – from Alaska to the International Space Station – a real-time portable sequencer can lower the barrier to accessing genomic information, bringing new insights into organisms by sequencing directly in extreme environments

New for 2023, this online event will provide researchers with an opportunity to learn about how spatial biology is helping us to gain a deeper understanding of molecular biology and mechanisms of disease. Speakers will discuss advances in spatial technologies and how they are being applied to provide a more complete picture of cells and complex biological systems in areas such as cancer research and neuroscience.

Here, Dr. Riglar will discuss ways that we are using synthetic biology to solve this problem, and our quest to develop non-invasive living engineered bacterial tools – smart probiotics – to help us understand and control the gut and gut microbiota.

Mucosal barriers are the gateways to all internal organs, serving to transport oxygen, nutrients, and waste and at the same time performing enormous feats of protection against infection and other hazardous insults. The explosion of interest in the human microbiome – especially but not only that in the gut – has driven new interest in building human mucosal barrier models.
