“We are pleased to add SCO Logistics’ talented employees to our workforce. We are adding the experience of SCO Logistics in the chemical arena to our broad range of industry verticals that include manufacturing, consumer packaged goods and retail,” said Transplace President & CEO Tom Sanderson. “Bringing the SCO Logistics team on board allows Transplace a significant opportunity to serve a new set of customers. Acquiring SCO Logistics leverages our significant investment in building industry-leading proprietary Transportation Management System (TMS) and our Lean Six Sigma capabilities. Furthermore, this acquisition is an illustration of our commitment and strategic plan to continue growing Transplace and building competitive advantage.”

As one of the top ten freight capacity brokers in the U.S. and a leading provider of 3PL services, Transplace generates revenue in excess of $800 million from approximately 650 customers. Owned by CI Capital Partners since 2009, Transplace helps its customers manage complex logistics and shipping needs by providing customized solutions through a proprietary web-based TMS platform. The company provides full transportation outsourcing, carrier contracting and negotiation, and freight brokerage services to a diverse blue chip customer base.

Joost Thesseling, managing director at CI Capital Partners, said, “The acquisition of SCO Logistics is an important milestone in Transplace’s strategy of complementing its organic growth opportunities with selective strategic acquisitions. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to support Tom Sanderson and the rest of the Transplace management team in building the business.”

Frank McGuigan, president and CEO, SCO Logistics, said, "We are excited to join Transplace, which will allow SCO Logistics to realize a number of benefits, including giving our current customers the advantages of Transplace’s experience and scale, its Lean Six Sigma-based processes and its award-winning technology. Our similar cultures in serving our customers made it a natural fit for SCO Logistics to join the Transplace organization. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with industry leaders such as Tom Sanderson and George Abernathy as they grow Transplace across geographical areas and into new industry verticals.”
