TTP LabTech has announced a number of high throughput platform solutions for the study of cytotoxicity. The platforms utilize the successful Acumen® eX3 fluorescence microplate cytometer and a number of new solutions for toxicity profiling developed by Invitrogen, a division of Life Technologies Corporation.

This announcement comes at a time when such cellular based assays are being increasingly recommended as the first approach in determining drug on- and off- target effects.

The Acumen® eX3 laser scanning cytometer is an ultra-high throughput system for cell-based screening that offers enhanced multiplexing capability to maximize data content and the rapid generation of robust data sets when deployed with ready-to-use Molecular Probes® kits and reagents from Invitrogen. With these Molecular Probes® high-content screening products, a number of cytotoxic phenomena can be analyzed including: cell viability, DNA damage and cell cycle processes such as mitosis.

The strength of the Acumen® eX3 platform combined with these Invitrogen high content screening (HCS) products enables the high-throughput analysis of a wide variety of toxicity parameters.
