OHAUS Corporation has announced the launch of NTEP Certified and Measurement Canada Approved Analytical and Precision Explorer® Balances.

The Explorer series of balances meet or exceed the Class I or II accuracy requirements in accordance with NIST Handbook 44 and Canada's Weights and Measures Regulations.

Certificate of Conformance Number 12-012 was issued under the National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) of the National Conference on Weights and Measures. Notice of Approval AM-5847 was issued by Measurement Canada, an Agency of Industry Canada.

The Explorer is suitable for general purpose weighing, retail jewelry/precious metal weighing, prescription weighing, prescription counting, commercial grain weighing and GIPSA grain weighing applications.

“The new NTEP certified Explorer balances offer products that specifically address the needs of many of our customers,” said Pete Leal, OHAUS Laboratory Market Manager.

Leal continued, “The NTEP models meet the needs of our customers who require a certified balance that will provide daily, repeatable performance.”

The OHAUS Explorer also benefits from a consistently ingenious platform, combining practical modular construction with intuitive software.

The application-based graphical user interface complements the balance’s ease-of-use, while an advanced anti-static draft shield and enhanced weighing performance strike a balance between cutting-edge technology and functional design.

Additional standard features include newly optimized linearity, repeatability specifications, and enhanced vibration filtering for better balance stability.

Explorer also comes standard with AutoCal™, an automatic internal calibration which allows the balance to automatically calibrate itself when it senses a change in the environment large enough to affect weighing results.

A large color touch-screen display, icon-driven application software featuring 14 unique application modes, and an adjustable angle display make Explorer the easiest to use and most advanced balance in its class.

Explorer’s modular design allows the base and display to separate from the balance, providing maximum flexibility in any work area. The design isolates the weighing chamber, enhancing stability and speed of results.

Draft shield models feature a larger chamber with side doors that seamlessly glide on top mounted bearings helping to prevent any potential bind up when the balance is left un cleaned.

Antistatic coated glass helps dissipate static charges in the weighing chamber which could adversely affect the weighing results. In addition, Explorer has four user-programmable touch-free sensors to minimize cross contamination.

Two sensors on the base and two on the display can be set up individually to allow for remote operations.

Additional features include menu lock switch, security bracket and integral weigh below hook for below balance weighing applications.

All analytical and precision models are available with a removable stainless steel weighing platform, stability indicator, and overload and under load indicators, as well as auto standby, and are powered by an energy efficient adapter to conserve energy and protect the environment.
