The Pharma ChemOutsourcing show in the US later this month will be used as the official platform for the global launch of a major new contract chemistry and manufacturing business.

Following its acquisition by India-based Ipca Laboratories, Onyx Scientific will line-up in a new offering at the 5th annual pharmaceutical chemistry event in New Jersey.

Onyx Scientific is in the midst of integration with Covenance, the contract manufacturing arm of Ipca and will unveil the combined value proposition at the event.

Onyx Scientific in an established supplier of chemistry services for medicinal, preclinical and Phase-I/II programs.

The acquisition has given Onyx Scientific access to Covenance’s scale-up capabilities in supporting Phase II to commercial scale programmes so it can offer customers a broader suite of services with optimal speed, quality and competitiveness.

Tony Flinn, chief executive officer of Onyx Scientific, said: “ChemOutsourcing is one of the major events in the industry’s calendar and therefore provides us an ideal stage to showcase the exciting developments in our organization.

“Through our UK labs, we can execute early stage programs such as lead optimization, custom synthesis, process development and small scale GMP manufacturing. We can then internally tech transfer the process to our India based locations and scale-up to Phase II/III and commercial production to offer customers the best of both worlds.

“The hardware in form of personnel and plant capacity for supporting programmes from development to commercial scale is already in place and integration of the software elements such as technical collaboration and harmonized business processes is fast coming together. Regardless of the location, our team will continue to be responsible for the delivery and actively lead the business integration.”
