SuperArray Bioscience Introduces GEArray Express

SuperArray Bioscience has announced the release of a microarray technology platform for profiling the expression of a focused set of genes.

According to SuperArray, these microarrays, marketed under the trade name GEArray Express, feature a protocol allowing one trained technician to process up to 32 arrays in a single day.

The GEArray Express Platform is designed to enable the simultaneous processing of 32 microarrays in a single day and simplifies the microarray hybridization and washing protocol with a multi-chamber hybridization plate that holds eight microarrays and a thermal shaker that holds four plates.

SuperArray claims that GEArray Express makes the use of microarray technology for screening large numbers of samples technically feasible.

"Our R & D department has been focusing on making microarrays more reliable and easy to use. We want microarrays to be used in every laboratory as a routine tool, like PCR is used today," said Dr. Sean Yu, Vice-President at SuperArray Bioscience.

"The GEArray Express platform was designed to be inexpensive, easy-to-handle, fast, and more consistent. It is especially suitable for projects with a large number of samples. However, we also want every researcher to take advantage of the improved consistency and simplified handling," continued Yu.

Cataloged GEArray Express microarrays contain the same pathway- and disease-focused design for which SuperArray has become known.

Currently available topics in the GEArray Express format include apoptosis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, immunology, signal transduction, and toxicology.

SuperArray claims that, researchers can also custom-order (or personalize) GEArray Express microarrays and tailor the content of a microarray with any set of human, mouse or rat genes important to their research.
