Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has announced the new Thermo Scientific Orbitor BenchTrak, a fully customizable plate mover with quick-connect modules.

The Orbitor™ BenchTrak significantly extends the functionality and versatility of the renowned Orbitor RS plate mover, providing a fully customizable automation solution that fits into existing laboratory space - either “on-bench” or “in-bench.”

Multiple Orbitor BenchTraks can connect to form complex system layouts, and a range of “click-in” components, such as instrument loading platforms, mezzanines, guarding and microplate stores, can be easily incorporated to address almost any customer workflow requirement.

Thermo Fisher will display the new mover within booth 810 during the 2012 Society for Laboratory Automation Screening (SLAS) conference February 6-7.

The PC-driven Orbitor Benchtrak features Thermo Scientific Momentum 3software, which enables users to configure it for a wide variety of benchtop workflows including sample preparation, ELISA, nucleic acid and protein purification, cell or biochemical assays, qPCR and next-generation sequencing.

A new Thermo Scientific LOCaMotion touch screen teaching wizard guides users through the configuration process.

The Orbitor BenchTrak empowers the user to create and customize a benchtop workstation that is ideal for automating their unique workflow applications.

The Orbitor BenchTrak is available for both new systems and field upgrades for existing Orbitor RS workstations, enabling systems to grow with the laboratory needs.

To see the new Orbitor Benchtrak, including the unique way users can “teach” an Orbitor BenchTrak using an iPad running new LOCaMotion™ software, please visit Thermo Fisher booth 801 during SLAS2012.
