Breakthrough in Growing Human Embryos

Professor Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz and her team at the University of Cambridge have developed a way to grow embryos in vitro for up to 14 days - double the time it has previously been possible to keep embryos alive in the lab.

This will allow scientists to study embryos past the time they would normally implant in the womb, giving invaluable insight into the development of the early embryo.
