Addressing the challenges in large scale metabolic phenotyping and translation research

Addressing the challenges in large scale metabolic phenotyping and translation research
Professor Gary Siuzdak
Director, Scripps Center for Metabolomics, The Scripps Research Institute
Professor Ian Wilson
Chair, Drug Metabolism and Molecular Toxicology, Imperial College London

Global metabolic profiling with LC-MS has the potential to detect important changes in complex biochemical systems. However subtle differences in the metabolome can be masked by technical variation in measurements and the diversity of chemical species makes confident identifications a challenge, leading to difficulties in biological interpretation.

METLIN: Translating Data to Knowledge, presented by Professor Gary Siuzdak, The Scripps Research Institute

This presentation will discuss how METLIN can translate your metabolomic analyses into understanding the systems-level effects of metabolites.

Reproducibility & Data Quality in Metabolic Phenotyping, presented by Professor Ian Wilson, Imperial College London

This presentation will discuss the challenges and issues in developing and implementing assays for large cohort epidemiology or smaller biomedical research studies in a high throughput environment.

 Learn about:

  • Extraction of deep biological information from Metabolic Phenotyping and Metabolomic analysis
  • The challenges and issues to be aware of when developing and implementing robust, reliable and highly reproducible assays in a high throughput environment
