Multicellular Tissue Models and Methods to Identify Tool Compounds for Interrogation of Novel Targets
Despite great progress in our understanding of central nervous system (CNS) structure and function, discovery of novel efficacious therapeutics has been challenging. It is increasingly recognized that CNS dysfunction involves complex interactions amongst multiple cell types, which has driven the development of multicellular tissue models and other models to enable further investigation. Whilst multicellular tissue models can facilitate target validation for novel targets, there are not always suitable tool compounds available to extensively investigate the biology.
