Double stranded DNA quantitation using Promega QuantiFluor® Dyes
DNA quantitation is a critical step for applications such as next generation sequencing, quantitative PCR and transfection. The introduction of fluorescent dsDNA-binding dyes with minimal binding to single stranded DNA (ssDNA) and RNA allows for the selective quantitation of small amounts of dsDNA.
Tecan and Promega have a history of working together to address the needs of laboratories requiring high throughput purification of nucleic acids.
Recently, Promega developed an automated method for dsDNA quantitation using the Promega QuantiFluor dsDNA or QuantiFluor ONE dsDNA System on the Freedom EVO.
The Freedom EVO liquid handling workstation equipped with an integrated Infinite® 200 multimode microplate reader provides walkaway assay set-up and quantitation for up to 88 unknown samples in approximately 45 minutes. The user-friendly TouchTools™ interface guides the operator through instrument set-up and data entry, ensuring adherence to SOPs and providing excellent process security for more consistent results.
The Freedom EVO liquid handling workstation offers excellent reproducibility and flexibility in performing dsDNA quantitation, including automatic sample dilution based on a user-estimated highest unknown sample DNA concentration.
