Spatial Transcriptomics: Understanding Gene Regulation in the Tissue Context

Did you ever wonder whether all cells within a tissue respond the same way to a signal? Or how many levels of specialization there might be within a tissue? To answer questions like these, at least three levels of information are needed: the identity of the responsive molecule, the expression level and the position in space at the time of the experiment. 

Spatial transcriptomics gives us this information by following changes in expression levels for thousands of genes in complete tissue sections.
