A raft of companies have already confirmed they’re launching new products at easyFairs LAB INNOVATIONS, at Birmingham’s NEC on 7th & 8th November, or using the show as the UK debut for their latest technologies.
Sean Codling, Containment Technology Services (CTS), managing director perhaps summed up the mood of other exhibitors when he said: “As the only UK show of its kind, we felt this was the perfect opportunity for us to get this major new product in front of lab professionals. I can’t give away too much information at this stage as it genuinely is a new development which our team is still working on, but suffice to say we think it will receive a lot of attention at the show.”
CTS will be launching a new laboratory enclosure unit at the show. The versatile mobile and bench mounted system represents a real step change for pharmaceutical industry labs. It comes with a multitude of set ups making it suitable for many different applications.
LAB INNOVATIONS will also be the first show in the world to feature Sairem’s groundbreaking MiniFlow200 and MiniLabotron2000 compact microwave assisted instruments designed for chemical, biochemical and pharmaceutical research. In these instruments, high performance solid state and magnetron based microwave generators have been combined with batch and continuous flow reactors ideal for synthesis from mg-scale up to several kg.
3M™ will be demonstrating its brand new 3M Molecular Detection System. Based on an innovative combination of two technologies - isothermal DNA amplification and ATP bioluminescence – it delivers highly sensitive results in a simple format. LAB INNOVATIONS will be a crucial opportunity for technicians to see firsthand the groundbreaking newly launched system of instrument, software and kits.
BioControl offers the broadest range of proprietary testing platforms for the detection of food-borne pathogens, spoilage organisms and hygiene and HACCP monitoring. At the show it will present a new easy, fast accurate method for the detection of the top 7 Shiga Toxigenic E.coli (STEC), including E.coli O157:H7 as defined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
LAB INNOVATONS will also be first chance to see Incus, MSE (UK) Ltd’s latest addition to its recently launched ProAir™ range of safety cabinets, isolators and vented animal cabinets. The five original products in the range are the Stratus, Cumulus, Cirrus, Cirrus Plus and Arcus. Like the Cumulus, the Incus is a Class II safety cabinet. However, it is not designed to accommodate robotics and instead is focused on the comfort of the user being ergonomically designed to minimised strain and easy to clean.
Specac’s Mini-Press and Mini-Film Maker will also be making their UK show debut. The former, a two ton load manual hydraulic press creates 7mm KBr pellets for transmission spectroscopy. This is complimented by the Mini-Film Maker, a low tonnage press with integrated heated platens for hot pressing polymer films.
The show will be a golden opportunity to find out about Merck Millipore’s Direct-Q® enhanced water purification all-in-one system which can produce high quality, pure water direct from tap.
QuadraChem Laboratories’ stand will feature its thermo scientific AquaPro process analyser which is the first in the market to offer a flexible analysis platform for a wide range of process applications. While those looking for latest safety developments should check out Datech Scientific Limited (DSL) who are partners with Nucomat, the producer of the new Hotcell compact. This fully automated robot system is fully enclosed in a fume extraction cabinet ensuring a safe environment for lab personnel, when using aggressive and dangerous chemicals.
2012 has been the busiest year to date for Bibby Scientific, with several innovative new products being launched for all four of its brands, among them Electrothermal's new IA9000 series and Mel-Temp® Melting Point Apparatus, and Integrity 6 reaction station with new accessories, Techne's new Prime thermal cyclers and PrimeQ real-time PCR system, Jenway's Genova Nano 3-in-1 micro-volume spectrophotometer and 6850 double beam spectrophotometer and Stuart's new hotplate stirrer and mini-stirrers. This will be the first UK show outing for many of them.
Broadley-James Ltd will be focusing their stand on the very latest thinking in process development (PD) lab automation and the benefits this can offer, such as greater statistical validity, remote experiment monitoring, cost saving, statistically similar conditions and increased productivity.
Visitors will be able to see how Greiner Bio-One’s range of premium quality Sapphire pipette and filter tips enable visual confirmation of accuracy of liquids, with the transparent tip and moulded graduations along the length, making them a staple for all labs. While as experts in particle analysis equipment Endecotts will be able to advise on their wide range of test sieves and shakers, sample preparation equipment and sample dividers, collection, milling and drying equipment plus moisture analysis and viscosity testing equipment.
Matt Benyon, Managing Director of easyFairs UK Ltd, says: “The large number of product launches or UK debuts already lined-up for LAB INNOVATIONS shows just how much the UK market needs our event and how much there will be for lab professionals to see and learn.”
The show is being supported by The Royal Society of Chemistry, Gambica, Campden BRI, Institute of Measurement and Control, Society of Biology, British Pharmacological Society and the UK Science Park Association. It will feature a demo area for latest technologies, a conference programme designed by the RSC and delivered by world-class experts, a key focus on continual professional development plus a free-to-attend seminar programme.
LAB INNOVATIONS is held on the 7 & 8 November 2012, at the NEC, Birmingham.
