A high-throughput protein array-based approach

Here we present a novel discovery-oriented high-throughput approach to the screening of allergen reactivates in crude biological extracts is presented using seafood allergens as an example. The CPGR workflow permits the effective screening of hundreds of putative allergens in parallel using minute amounts of patient serum and constitutes a cost-efficient allergen-specific antibody screening method for a routine diagnostic setting.

Apoptosis Inducing Novel microRNA for Breast cancer and Hepatocellular Carcinoma

MicroRNA provides a mechanism to target cancer stem cells and restraint tumors cells permanently; this could lead to promising cancer therapeutics and imaging agents. Apoptosis inducing microRNA was identified to target HCC and breast cancer cells for imaging and therapy.

A Novel Fluorimetric Assay for the Detection of TACE (a-Secretase)

To facilitate high throughput screening of TACE inhibitors, AnaSpec synthesized a novel peptide substrate for TACE using QXL™ 520/5-FAM FRET pair. Using this FRET substrate, AnaSpec developed a new kit – the SensoLyte™ 520 TACE Activity Assay. This kit can be used to detect the activity of the enzyme and for screening of TACE inhibitors. It is highly sensitive and can detect subnanogram amounts of enzyme.

Effects of cannabinoids on cholinergic-mediated contraction of human bronchi

The current study was performed to investigate the role of cannabinoid (CB) receptors on the cholinergic contraction of isolated human airways. Results obtained with WIN55,212-2 (CB1/CB2 agonist), JWH-133 (CB2 agonist) and CB receptor selective antagonists suggest that CB1-receptor stimulation inhibits the cholinergic contraction in human isolated bronchi through stimulation of prejunctional receptors, located to post-ganglionic cholinergic nerves.

DISTRIBUTION OF SAa2,6GAL AND SAa2,3GAL LINKED SURFACE RECEPTORS IN HUMAN RESPIRATORY TRACT AND ASSOCIATION WITH INFLUENZA VIRUS REPLICATION

To investigate the level of SAa2,6Gal and a2,3Gal linked receptors on human bronchial epithelial cells, and relate this to the ability of both human and avian influenza viruses to infect bronchial epithelial cells

High Content Image Analysis using a Laser Scanning Microplate Cytometer

Microscope-based high-content instruments offer high optical resolution, however, the limited field of view afforded by their objective lenses can mean lengthy read times for some assays, especially where multiple image capture per well is required. Wherever possible, only a small percentage of the total number of cells present in a test well are analysed to keep plate read times at a minimum, which may not always be ideal. Microplate laser- scanning cytometers, such as TTP LabTech’s Acumen® eX3

A genome-wide loss of function screen identifies new genes required for lung cancer cell proliferation

RNA interference (RNAi) provides an experimental tool for functional genomics analysis. We screened a genome-wide RNAi library to identify new genes involved in lung cancer cell proliferation. 72 % from the 257 genes identified were involved in general gene expression processes, 16 % were of unknown function or unrelated to proliferation, and 12% consisted of uncharacterized genes. These last sets of genes provide potential novel targets for lung cancer treatment.

Computational analysis of high-throughputsmall RNA sequencing reveals microRNAs in a single-celled organism

We present evidence that miRNA precursors are present in the single-celled green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and that they give rise to mature miRNAs that regulate target genes by post-transcriptional RNA cleavage.
