Affymetrix Inc. has announced the launch of its GeneChip-compatible™ Applications Program, designed to provide customers with a broad spectrum of software solutions for biomedical research and development seamlessly integrated with the GeneChip® platform.

Under this program, software developers are collaborating with Affymetrix to deliver software solutions which apply gene expression and genetic variation data to translational medicine, discovery research and systems biology.

"When customers see the GeneChip-compatible logo with participating software applications, they will know that the GeneChip-compatible application provides a unified workflow and direct data exchange with the Affymetrix GeneChip platform," said Mike Lelivelt, senior manager of the GeneChip-compatible Applications Program at Affymetrix.

"These software providers are working with us to establish key standards in the marketplace and to maintain compatibility as the GeneChip technology evolves."

"The tight integration of the GeneChip-compatible software applications with our core GeneChip platform provides customers with the most effective and innovative solutions tailored to their individual needs," said Steve Lincoln, vice president of Informatics at Affymetrix.

"Together with these leading software providers, we will continue to expand upon the many proven uses of the Affymetrix GeneChip platform in both basic research and applied biomedical R&D."
