Earlier this week, Bioo Scientific announced the availability of the patent pending AIR™ Small RNA Sequencing Kit for preparation of Illumina-compatible small RNA sequencing libraries.

The AIR Small RNA Sequencing Kit offers many advantages over existing small RNA sample prep protocols. It has been optimized for sample multiplexing using the AIR Barcoded Adapters, which can decrease costs by increasing the number of samples that can be run in a single flow cell without introducing bias into the reaction.

The AIR Small RNA Sequencing Kit includes AIR Ligase, an enhanced enzyme that allows greater sequencing coverage than currently available T4 RNA ligases. Additionally, adapter sequence contamination is decreased and PCR band separation improved. The kit contains all of the enzymes, buffers, adapters and primers needed for sequencing on Illumina sequencing instruments.

According to Dr. Masoud Toloue, Senior Scientist at Bioo Scientific, “The discovery and sequencing of novel non-coding RNA (such as microRNA) has coincided with a wealth of functional validation and expression studies, making this an exciting time for transcriptome research. In order to understand the significance of global small RNA profiles and the importance this may have for future clinical applications, multiplexed small RNA studies will be a must. Bioo Scientific launched the AIR Small RNA Sequencing Kit to meet these demands.”

The AIR Small RNA Sequencing Kit is the latest addition to Bioo Scientific’s AIR next-generation sequencing line, which includes the AIR Barcoded Adapters, Custom AIR Adenylated Adapters and AIR Ligase. The response from early adopters of the AIR next-generation sequencing technology has been very positive.
