AnaSpec Introduces Improved AnaTag™ APC, B-PE and R-PE Labeling Kits

Read time: Less than a minute

AnaSpec has announced the release of the improved AnaTag™ APC, B-PE and R-PE Labeling Kits.

Labeling of antibodies can be both tedious and time-consuming. Without the use of proper techniques and reagents, the conjugation may result in suboptimal or no labeling.

AnaSpec’s APC, B-PE and R-PE Labeling Kits contain all the reagents needed for optimized labeling of antibodies. The phycobiliproteins, modified by SMCC, result in the creation of SH-reactive moieties, which can react with the thiol groups of target antibody. Since no additional activation is required, the conjugation process is simple.

Phycobiliproteins are a family of highly soluble and fluorescent proteins derived from cyanobacteria and eukaryotic algae. Allophycocyanin (APC) is an ultra-sensitive, near-infrared fluorescent tracer with a high quantum yield. B-Phycoerythrin (B-PE), a fluorescent protein from phycobiliprotein family, has a primary absorption peak at 545 nm with a secondary peak at 563 nm and maximum emission at 578 nm.

R-Phycoerythrin (R-PE), made of a, b and g subunits and present as (ab)6g, has broad absorption bands with peaks at 565 nm, 498, and 539 nm. These phycobiliproteins are significantly more sensitive and photostable than conventional organic fluorophores. APC, B-PE or R-PE labeled antibodies are used in applications such as flow cytometry and immunofluorescence.

AnaTag™ kits provide all the reagents, purification column needed to label up to 1 mg of antibody. A detailed step-by-step protocol is also included. APC, B-PE or R-PE and SMCC activated derivatives of these proteins can also be purchased separately.
