Bio-Rad Describes Several Methods for Protein A and G Antibody Purification

Read time: Less than a minute

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. has announced the availability of a bulletin (number 5726A) that gives an overview of preprogrammed methods for the purification of Protein A and Protein G antibodies using the Bio-Rad Profinia™ protein purification system.

Protein A and G chromatography media are commonly used in antibody purification. The bulletin describes the preprogrammed Profinia Protein A and G methods using the Profinia protein purification system, for automated affinity purification of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies.

“Using the Profinia system to purify both monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies not only replaces manual operation that can sometime last hours with gravity flow methods, it also exchanges the acidic buffer of eluted antibody into neutral pH buffer to instantly stabilize the antibody without manual neutralization,” said Wei Liu, product manager for the Bio-Rad Profinia protein purification system.

The system provides a great solution for researchers who need to purify liters of monoclonal antibody from very diluted hybridoma culture and generates pure antibody that could be used for downstream biochemical assays and even amino terminal sequencing of the light or heavy antibody chains.
