Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. has announced the availability of its first iPhone application for free download through Apple’s iTunes App Store.

The Bio-Rad Real-Time PCR application, Amplification Central, provides researchers performing PCR and qPCR with several helpful tools including tutorials, troubleshooting tips, and assay-specific information.

“This reference tool is intended to provide researchers with the information they need to support their PCR and qPCR experiments,” said Dr. Kamni Vijay, Marketing Manager for Genomics, Bio-Rad. “We are putting three of Bio-Rad’s best PCR resources at researcher’s fingertips through their iPhone or iPod Touch.”

The iPhone application includes the following:

• Real-Time PCR Amplification Guide for designing, analyzing, and optimizing real-time PCR experiments

• qPCR Doctor for troubleshooting and resolving problems related to real-time PCR assays

• qPCR Assay Design for guidance on designing a qPCR assay, information on validating and optimizing a qPCR assay and different methods for analyzing qPCR data

The Bio-Rad Real-Time PCR App is derived from two trusted amplification sources: Bio-Rad’s Real-Time PCR Applications Guide and the Gene Expression Gateway microsite.  Additional features will be added to the application on an ongoing basis. The application runs on Apple's iPhone or iPod Touch and can be downloaded at the iTunes App Store: http://bit.ly/6edO8F.
