Bio-Rad Study Describes Transfection Techniques for Neuroblastoma Cell Lines

Read time: Less than a minute

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. has announced the availability of a technical note (tech note 5720), which describes a study identifying the optimal conditions for electroporating IMR-32 and SK-N-SH neuroblastoma cell lines with plasmid DNA or siRNA.

The study shows that good conditions for electroporating these cells are a 20 ms square-wave pulse of 200 V and 2,000 µF. Using higher cell density yielded results that were at least as good as those obtained with cells at lower densities, demonstrating that cell concentration is another important variable to consider when performing electroporations.

Further optimization of cell density and plasmid DNA and siRNA concentrations, which is possible with the Gene Pulser® MXcell™ system can provide even better results.
