Following the acquisition of Isohelix by Cell Projects in February 2007, Cell Projects has launched a range of DNA extraction and stabilizing kits specifically developed for use with the Isohelix high yield DNA sampling products.

The Isohelix range of kits is designed to either stabilize the DNA for long periods at room temperature or to fully isolate and purify the DNA. By optimizing the chemistries to the existing Isohelix DNA buccal swabs, important benefits of increased sample recovery and a reduction in liquid handling steps are integrated into the kits whether using them manually or within an automated system.

Tom Hole, managing director Cell Projects said: “These new kits had considerable design input from the users of our swabs.  They really wanted to maintain the high yields and ease of use aspects of the swabs into the isolation protocols.

“Applications vary widely from medicine linked human DNA population studies and clinical genetics through veterinary projects to wild bird DNA sexing studies’’
