GE Healthcare Launches His GraviTrap™ Columns

Read time: Less than a minute

GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company, has announced the availability of His GraviTrap™ 1 ml prepacked columns to meet the ever-growing need for pure proteins to use in functional and structural genomics and proteomics research.

The Company claims that, His GraviTrap columns purify histidine-tagged proteins from clarified or unclarified samples without the need for a pump or purification system.

Separations are completed in as little as 20 minutes, large sample volumes can easily be applied, and concentrated purified protein elutes in a small volume.

“Short purification times and simple, gravity-flow operation are performance benefits that will be appreciated by all scientists needing to run reliable, time-saving protein purifications,” said Allan Simpson, Vice President of Research & Analysis, Protein Separations at GE Healthcare.

“In addition, new accessories further increase speed and convenience. For example, the His Buffer Kit reduces preparation time and optimizes results, with the LabMate™ reservoir enabling sample volumes up to 35 ml to be loaded in one run.”

His GraviTrap columns are prepacked with Ni Sepharose™ 6 Fast Flow.

Purifications can be performed under either native or denaturing conditions using a wide range of detergents, reducing agents and other additives.

Nickel ion leakage is negligible, which minimizes protein precipitation and increases the yield of pure and active material.
