Invitrogen Introduces ChargeSwitch-Pro PCR Clean-Up Kit

Read time: Less than a minute

Invitrogen Corporation has announced the launch of the company’s ChargeSwitch®-Pro PCR Clean-up Kits which allow for high-quality DNA purification following PCR or enzymatic reactions.

Instead of using ethanol or harsh salts, ChargeSwitch kits use a simple ion-exchange procedure in a familiar spin-column format. In low pH conditions, the ChargeSwitch membrane has a positive charge that binds the negatively charged DNA backbone.

When the pH is raised, the ChargeSwitch membrane becomes negatively charged and releases the DNA, resulting in clean DNA free of harsh contaminants. This ultimately increases the success of downstream applications such as DNA sequencing, PCR cloning, or restriction digestions, saves time by eliminating extra ethanol drying centrifugations, and adds convenience by including all components needed for the purification.

ChargeSwitch Pro recovers highly pure DNA up to 95% and removes dNTPs and primers in excess of 98%.
