QIAGEN Launches New Product Line for PCR-based Genotyping Experiments

Three kits are now available for genotyping of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), microsatellites and mutations — the Type-it Fast SNP Probe PCR Kit, the Type-it Microsatellite PCR Kit and the Type-it Mutation Detect PCR Kit.
PCR-based genotyping is used in scientific fields such as cancer and disease research, animal breeding and biomarker discovery. Accurate PCR-based genotyping analysis may require extensive optimization of experimental parameters and often leads to inexact and unreliable results. Experiments therefore need to be repeated, resulting in substantial increases in time and costs. QIAGEN recognizes these challenges and has developed its first-to-market, PCR-based product line called Type-it. This innovative product line results in significant time savings and ensures increased experimental success rates and data reliability for dedicated genotyping applications.

QIAGEN’s new Type-it PCR products are:
· Type-it Microsatellite PCR Kit: A novel multiplex PCR-based kit for reliable detection of microsatellite loci in humans, animals, plants and bacteria using any detection platform. The kit allows high-yield coamplification of all fragments without the need for time-consuming optimization of PCR parameters and can be effectively used in challenging settings such as capillary sequencers.
Type it Mutation Detect PCR Kit: A new kit for detection of mutations such as deletions and translocations or for preamplification of SNPs using multiplex PCR technology. Multiple mutation targets are amplified in parallel using one protocol. The kit ensures greater reliability and significant savings in time and costs.
Type it Fast SNP Probe PCR Kit: An innovative kit that enables accurate SNP genotyping using 5’-nuclease assays. High call rates are ensured, even when targeting difficult SNP loci or when using low template amounts. Time savings of up to 40 percent are possible compared to conventional methods due to the significantly reduced PCR run times achieved on all cyclers with standard and rapid ramping rates.
