Sequenom, Inc. has announced the launch of the iSEQ™ application software, a MassARRAY® comparative sequence analysis application for automated, high-throughput identification and typing of microbes and viruses, as well as human disease-related molecular markers.

The iSEQ application, based on Sequenom's proprietary MassCLEAVE™ biochemistry, enables automatic sample identification, sample grouping and mutation detection by comparison with user-defined reference sequence sets.

iSEQ offers a versatile, comprehensive solution for clinical research, outbreak and treatment monitoring, forensics and biodefense, and food safety. Benefits of the application include its high-throughput, flexible format and automation of data analysis.

"Human health is constantly challenged by food-borne, sexually transmitted and other pathogens, and institutions like the CDC set global standards on these matters related to human health. The iSEQ application expands Sequenom's genomic and genetic analysis portfolio into the identification and characterization of infectious disease agents and should set a new standard in molecular typing," said Harry Stylli, Ph.D., President and CEO of Sequenom.

"This important new product could open additional partnering opportunities, as well as introduce Sequenom to new markets and customers."
