Greiner Bio-One will be exhibiting its extremely compact high-performance small laboratory instruments for the first time at the European Biotechnica trade show for biotechnology, life sciences and lab technology in Hanover, Germany.

As a leading supplier of specialized products for the cultivation and analysis of cell and tissue cultures, Greiner Bio-One is thus expanding its portfolio and now offers a range of small devices to complement consumables such as PCR vessels, plates and tubes.

Heating blocks, mixers, centrifuges and pipetting aids are part of daily working life in a laboratory. In the past, Greiner Bio-One has supplied the relevant consumables for these devices. "However, customers are increasingly starting to value the benefits of being able to source everything from a single supplier, " explains Product Manager Dr. Lara Breth. The company has therefore decided to incorporate a selected range of small key devices into its portfolio.

Since all the equipment and consumables have been carefully coordinated, customers will no longer need to check for compatibility when purchasing laboratory supply. "We especially focused on ensuring the devices are user-friendly," says Dr. Breth. "The mini models are so compact that they fit in the palm of your hand while still delivering outstanding performance." The advantage for small and medium-sized laboratories in research institutes and universities is obvious.

Six hands-on helpers

Mini Block Heater: With its compact construction, broad temperature range, and multiple block options, the Mini Block Heater is the perfect tool for laboratory incubations. The simple touch pad controls and a digital display provide for "set and walk away" temperature selection and unrivalled accuracy.

Vortex Mixer: Mixes, dissolves and creates suspensions efficiently, even with large samples. The unique counterweight system supports maximum output while also minimizing vibration in the device and noise.

Mini Vortex Mixer: Mixes and creates suspensions reliably with samples up to 50 millilitres and features a very small footprint. "Insta-Touch" supports simple touch-based operation.

Microplate Centrifuge: This centrifuge with a swing-out rotor for two microplates features an easy-to-access rotor chamber with two inclined plate carriers, which allow users to insert plates without the need for adhesive strips or a cover. Most samples can be centrifuged in less than 20 seconds.

Mini Centrifuge: Ideal for rapid centrifuging of up to eight reaction or PCR vessels. The rotor reaches 6,000 rpm shortly after the cover is closed. When opening, the rotor is brought to a stop within one second. A click system ensures easy rotor replacement.

Sapphire Maxipette: Ergonomically shaped with free-moving controls, this pipetting aid incorporates a long-life lithium battery that delivers a runtime of up to ten hours or 2,500 pipette cycles. Charging time is just two hours. Can be used with pipette sizes from 1 to 100 millilitres.
