The Invitrogen™ RiboMinus™ Bacteria 2.0 Transcriptome Isolation Kit, offered by Thermo Fisher Scientific, is a new and improved automation-ready kit for depletion of ribosomal RNA from bacteria. Using the kit, researchers can improve RNA-sequencing results with efficient bacterial transcriptome enrichment with probe-based depletion of ribosomal RNA from bacterial total RNA enabling sequencing more RNA.

Clark Bloomer, Project Manager at Genomics Core, researching microbiome said: “We were very encouraged to confirm that 95 percent of NGS reads were non-rRNA transcripts when trailing the RiboMinus Bacteria 2.0 Transcriptome Isolation Kit for rRNA depletion of E. coli when trialing the new product.”

Invitrogen RiboMinus™ products use a novel magnetic bead–based purification technology to enrich the RNA transcript spectrum by selective depletion of rRNA transcripts from total RNA. The RiboMinus™ Bacteria 2.0 Transcriptome Isolation Kit now includes 5S targets and over 100 probe designs designed to yield improved rRNA depletion and achieve consistent data.
