Unleashed Informatics Limited has announced the launch of DogBox Online, a free and open access version of the company’s flagship data warehouse product - DogBox.

DogBox Online is designed to offer researchers a free, integrated data service with a re-designed interface allowing for complex text query execution, on-the-fly data exports in various formats, and an integrated view of sequence records including pre-calculated BLAST results.

To round out the open access product, DogBox Online also includes the recently released UnleashedNEWS, a data information service offering users over 450 hourly updated science and technology news feeds from 23 channels.

In December, 2005 Unleashed Informatics acquired commercial rights to Blueprint Initiative intellectual property from Mount Sinai Hospital. DogBox data warehouse technology is founded upon The Blueprint Initiative’s SeqHound database.

The substantial and loyal SeqHound user community - including BioPerl, BioMoby and Taverna users - expressed enthusiastic interest in accessing DogBox data warehouse enhancements produced by Unleashed Informatics.

With the release of DogBox Online, Unleashed Informatics will now offer open access to its DogBox product improvements, previously only available to DogBox subscribers.

"By aligning SeqHound with DogBox Online, no researcher will be left behind by aggressive commercial product enhancement at Unleashed Informatics," says Unleashed Informatics Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Christopher Hogue.

Mr. Andrade continued, "The strategic decision to offer open access to our flagship data warehouse technology through DogBox Online is consistent with the company’s clear commitment to public good research."

"Along similar lines, we already offer limited free access to SMIDSuite, our small molecule information suite available through subscription."

In next few weeks, Unleashed Informatics will further highlight its commitment to the life science community by offering new and improved open access versions of its commercial products.

"We’re confident researchers will be impressed with the new online service, and will welcome our open access efforts," says Unleashed Informatics President and Chief Executive Officer Eric Andrade.

"Today’s DogBox Online user is tomorrow’s DogBox subscriber. Every effort must be made to engage the academic life science community by encouraging extensive use of DogBox technology."

"As well, we are particularly keen to see biotech and small pharmaceutical commercial users of DogBox Online guide the product’s evolution," added Mr Andrade.
