Unleashed Launches the Biomolecular Object Network Databank "BONDplus"

Read time: 1 minute

Unleashed Informatics has announced the launch of BONDplus- the Biomolecular Object Network Databank.

BONDplus is a life science data management platform combining sequence, interaction and related interactome information to deliver insightful search results.

BONDplus subscribers also enjoy exclusive access to experimental, pre-computed and predicted data.

"Researchers live in a world defined by the pressure to publish first, and they need every advantage available," says Unleashed Informatics Co-Founder, President and CEO Eric Andrade.

"We developed BONDplus to speed customer achievement of insight by breaking down discipline barriers, combining data silos, and connecting the dots."

The current Unleashed product portfolio including the Biomolecular Interaction Network Database (BIND/BINDPlus), DogBox Plus, and DogRun Plus have been incorporated into the BONDplus platform.

Current resources that contain sequence-based records, such as NCBI's Entrez Gene, include elemental interaction data. Similarly, protein sequence-based resources such as Uniprot contain limited interaction data.

BONDplus is designed to enable scientists to discover the cellular context of a gene of interest and identify experimentally-validated relationships using a single "Google-like" query.

"As a leading provider of life science data, we aim to capture complete content that describes a given object's cellular mechanism," adds Mr Andrade.

"BONDplus facilitates searching across specialized areas such as genomics, proteomics and metabolomics serving up converging interactome data created by the global life science research community."

The BOND platform is further distinguished by the capacity to scale in step with the development of varied data types which will convert to hundreds of millions of searchable records.

For example, the Biomolecular Interaction Network Database (BIND) housed on the BONDplus platform can now grow freely as projected from 200,000 records today to one million interaction records within five years.

The BONDplus development effort also paid dividends through the integration of varied BLAST applications directly onto the Unleashed data management platform.

As a result, BONDplus subscribers can now conduct BLAST queries against both sequence and interaction data within a common interface.

BONDplus also contains pre-computed BLASTP and RPS BLAST results allowing users to view enhanced search results for a protein of interest.

As a sign of its continued support for the public research community, Unleashed also launched BOND Open Access to over 8,000 worldwide portal registrants representing 3000 organizations from 122 countries.

"Complimenting the power of BONDplus today is the platform's future development path towards additional integration of cheminformatics, patents and publication information," says Unleashed Informatics Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Christopher Hogue.

"We can now readily extend and enhance BONDplus as our core product while continuing to offer our unique high-performance programming interfaces for automated queries."
