Test Detects COVID-19 Even When It Mutates

An NTU-led team of scientists has developed a diagnostic test that can detect the virus that causes COVID-19 even after it mutates. Named the VaNGuard (Variant Nucleotide Guard) test and developed based on the CRISPR gene-editing tool, it can yield results within 30 minutes. The test could potentially be used in settings where it is important to detect the virus in individuals quickly, such as at the border controls.
