The use of DNA as a biomarker relies on analysis tools that are highly sensitive and give reproducible results.  Digital PCR is a newer technology for DNA detection and quantification that is rapidly being adopted for applications in precision medicine.  This seminar will cover the following topics:

  • Digital PCR basics and assay development
  • The application of digital PCR to disease diagnostics
  • Digital PCR for highly sensitive non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT)
  • Cell-free DNA cancer testing with digital PCR

In this talk Manu Gupta from the Sarcoma Genetics Group at UCL discusses his research into a diagnostic based test for bone tumour mutations using Droplet Digital PCR. The talk covers this process on three particular bone tumours: 

  • Chondrosarcoma (IDH1)
  • Giant Cell Tumour of the bone (H3F3A)
  • Fibrosis Dysplasia (GNAS1)
