Dr. Gregory F. Pirrone is an associate principal scientist in analytical research and development at Merck research laboratories (MRL). He earned his PhD from Northeastern University under the guidance of Dr. John R. Engen. Gregory has over nine years of pharmaceutical experience and more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, many of which leverage MALDI-MS technology. In 2025, he received the Early Career Investigator Award from the American Chemical Society for his industrial work. His focus is on biologics characterization and cell-line development for early biotherapeutic programs, advancing projects from discovery through development. He currently resides in Boston, -Massachusetts and works at the longwood medical campus at MRL.
