Sigma-Aldrich Stockholders Approve Merck Acquisition

Sigma-Aldrich stockholders voted to adopt the previously announced merger agreement providing for the acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich by Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany at a special meeting of stockholders. Sigma-Aldrich stockholders also approved, on an advisory, non-binding basis, compensation that may become payable to named executive officers as a result of the acquisition.
As previously announced, on September 22, 2014, the board of directors for Sigma-Aldrich approved the merger agreement under which Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, will acquire Sigma-Aldrich for $140.00 per share in cash.
H7N9 Influenza Vaccine Clinical Trials CommenceNews
Two new clinical trials testing an experimental vaccine to prevent influenza caused by an H7N9 influenza virus are now enrolling volunteers at sites across the United States. The Phase 2 studies will test different dosages of the inactivated influenza vaccine candidate as well as different vaccination schedules. The studies also will evaluate whether an adjuvant boosts the immune responses of people receiving the vaccine.
