LGBTQIA+ Representation in Science

Learn about LGBTQIA+ representation in our latest episode of Teach Me in 10.

Dr. Emma Waters is a Senior Researcher in Dr. Gemma Langridge’s group at the Quadram Institute Bioscience. Waters investigates the molecular mechanisms used by Salmonella Typhi to survive in an asymptomatic state in humans – known as the carrier state.

Waters is also a big advocate for LGBTQIA+ representation in science. She developed an exhibition called “What is a scientist?” for the Norwich Science Festival in 2023. The exhibition showcased the diversity of scientists at her science campus and aimed to inspire individuals from all backgrounds to pursue a career in science.
