Mediware Acquires CPR+ Software

Mediware Information Systems, Inc. announced that it has acquired Definitive Homecare Solutions, Ltd. (DHS). Widely known in the market by the name of its flagship software solution, CPR+, DHS serves home infusion, home medical equipment (HME) and retail and sub-acute specialty pharmacy organizations. Mediware acquired more than 600 new customers and the related expertise, products, services and contracts of DHS.
Mediware has operated in the home infusion, HME, home health nursing and specialty pharmacy sector since 2008, and the company plans to integrate the DHS/CPR+ business into its existing Alternate Care Solutions business line. Over the past five years, Mediware has built an expansive portfolio of homecare solutions through acquisitions, including its recent acquisition of Fastrack in June 2013.
"Market conditions are ripe for consolidation in the homecare technology sector as care shifts to home-based settings," said Thomas Mann, Mediware’s president and chief executive officer. Health reform, aging populations, prevalence of chronic disease and other factors are triggering rapid growth in homecare, increasing the need for providers to access software products and services that drive down costs, maximize safety and efficiency and support business growth.

Jeff Johnston and Stuart Crane, co-owners of DHS/CPR+ who launched the company in 1993, also view the acquisition as a significant benefit to the homecare organizations they serve. “This development gives us a lot of momentum,” Johnston said. “Stuart and I see it as a tremendous opportunity to blend our expertise together with Mediware’s to make the best software and related solutions in the homecare industry.”
